Abstract

Permasalahan sampah di ruang publik masih menjadi tantangan lingkungan di Kota Medan akibat rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan. Kondisi tersebut mendorong dilaksanakannya Program Tandu Osoji sebagai bentuk pengabdian masyarakat melalui kolaborasi mahasiswa UT Medan dan Yayasan Tangan Edukasi. Program ini mengadaptasi budaya Osoji Jepang melalui kegiatan pungut sampah dan edukasi lingkungan secara langsung kepada masyarakat di fasilitas umum seperti Lapangan Merdeka dan Istana Maimun Medan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga kebersihan lingkungan melalui pendekatan partisipatif dan edukatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan pencatatan hasil kegiatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Program Tandu Osoji mampu meningkatkan kepedulian masyarakat terhadap kebersihan lingkungan serta menciptakan interaksi sosial positif antara relawan dan masyarakat. Dalam setiap pelaksanaan kegiatan, jumlah sampah yang berhasil dikumpulkan berkisar antara 50 hingga 100 kilogram. Program ini juga memberikan dampak positif terhadap penguatan kepedulian sosial mahasiswa dan kolaborasi komunitas dalam menjaga kebersihan ruang publik secara berkelanjutan.
